UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – On October 18, the McCoy Natatorium roared with pride as Penn State Swimming and Diving hosted Yale in a meet that was more than competition—it was a celebration of excellence, resilience, and the future. Senior Day, presented by the Penn State Alumni Association, honored 15 seniors and one graduate student, each leaving behind a legacy of grit and glory.
Men’s Highlights: Power and Precision
The Nittany Lions dominated the lanes with performances that electrified the crowd:
- Matthew Bittner blazed to victory in the 100-yard Backstroke (45.72).
- Mariano Lazzerini owned the breaststroke, winning both the 100 (52.60) and 200 (1:54.65).
- Jake Kennedy sprinted to gold in the 50 Free (20.40) and 100 Free (45.15).
- Relays? Pure fire. The 400 Medley Relay squad clocked 3:06.82, while the 200 Free Relay stormed to 1:19.37.
- On the boards, Hayden Elliott soared to first in the 3-meter dive (321.15).
Women’s Highlights: Grace Meets Grit
The women’s team delivered a masterclass in determination:
- Margaret Markvardt edged out a nail-biter in the 100 Back (54.69) and crushed the 100 Fly (55.20).
- Morgan Moore powered through the 500 Free (4:52.90).
- Katie Ketter set a personal best in the 50 Free (23.34).
